Teaser Snippet from my next single, “Best Friend”, off my new album “Trinity” (due out Spring 2017!) The single features the homie, ANT, who I took an award home with at the 2013 Madison Hip-Hop Awards for Collab of the Year for a previous collaboration. Filming for the music video will commence this month!!
It’s crazy to think that every single moment in my life has been leading up to this very moment right here. Every decision I’ve made whether it be to pursue music or not higher my education after high school. Any career opportunity that I’ve turned down. Every show that I have done; every hour I have spent in the studio honing my craft. Every penny I’ve invested in my music career and myself. Every talent and skill that I’ve learned and acquired over the years. Every opportunity and person that I’ve put second to my mission in life. For every hurt I’ve been through. It all comes down to this: My ultimate purpose in life; to glorify my Creator with the talents and mission He has blessed me with. A moment that will change the trajectory of my life & career forever in the direction it’s always meant to go. Truth is, I knew this was my mission for years (if not decades.) I was just stubborn and wanted to do things my way. But now comes the time when my music and career takes on a new meaning and purpose.
I want to thank all my supporters for sticking with me all these years…more than half my life. Crazy. For those who continue to stick with me: I love you. For those who no longer rock with me: I love you as well. You’ve helped bring me to this point in my life. The point where I can finally find meaning. So thank you. each and every one of you.
This song is probably one of the deepest, darkest, most vulnerable songs I have ever put out during my whole career as an artist. I want to thank Katie Scullin for collaborating with me. I struggled for many months with finding a singer/writer for this song and looking back, I can’t imagine the song being any different than what it is now. It’s what it’s supposed to be, all thanks to God. And I would like to thank everyone that was a part of the making of this video as well. Y’all got your feet dirty to help support a dream of mine like it was your own (including walking in muddy woods and waters…haha!)
So ,without further ado: “Who really is Rip? And why is he making this Jesus so central?”
Last week I dropped Part 1 of this series…here is Part 2! If you didn’t see your question answered in Part 1…it will be answered in this one! Hope you enjoy. I enjoy connecting with you all and answering all your questions!! – Rip
April 20, 2016 – Today, Recording Artist ‘Rip’ releases his newest music video, “Still Here,” and announces that he’s back in the studio working on his third studio album, an EP titled, “Trinity.” The album will include collaborations with Sincere and Katie Scullin, along with production by Memory, Rip himself, and co-production by DJ Pain 1. Rip takes you back to his musical roots with his first single, “Still Here,” which features 3 of his original RiP Records label mates from the early 2000’s – PR, Influence and TruMotiv (pka Too Bogus). The video is set in Chicago, the market where Rip & his RiP Records family originally got their start, and was produced and directed by Rip himself. On Rip producing his own music videos, Violator All Star DJ – DJ Fusion had this to say about the video in an interview on his radio show SPXX Radio: “You’ve definitely hit the scene hard with that [your music video production] and a lot of people have noticed.”
Check it out everyone!! Got together with my team and put together an entry for the Doritos #CrashTheSuperbowl commercial contest! Been wanting to do this for years, and now we have completed an entry. Check that off the #Bucketlist. I want to thank Rafael Charles Ragland for teaming up with me on this project. I would also like to thank everyone else who made this video a possibility. Couldn’t have done it without your gracious support!
New year, new music!!! I am pleased to present you guys with a new song that I produced for freestyle legend & recording artist Rochelle! For those unfamiliar with Rochelle, she had a huge hit in the 90’s with her single “Praying For An Angel” (which was big on dance radio and in urban latin communities such as New York & Chicago). The song was produced by acclaimed producers 20 Fingers (“Short Short Man” by Gillette, “Lick It” by Roula, “Fat Boy” by Max-A-Million just to name a few). I grew up on all sorts of music, including freestyle. I was a huge Chicago House & Freestyle fan back in the 90’s as well as of Rochelle’s song “Praying For An Angel“. In fact I used to own one of her records too (“NeNe“) when I was a 14 year old kid DJ’ing for fun in my bedroom. So when her manager Rigo approached me about producing a new song for her, I was honored. This song is in latin but has a contemporary dance sound to it (think Calvin Harris & Jump Smokers).
You can download the song for free over at her ReverbNation.com/RochelleMusic page!!!
